Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. We spent it with my family in Olympia. Thanksgiving was pretty normal, lots of food and great company. After Thanksgiving, Dad rented a house on the coast and the family spent two days hanging out there. The house was just a five minute walk from the beach. The weather wasn’t great and it rained most of the time the first day. The second day though the weather cooperated. The tides were especially high so we spent a lot of time running for the high ground so we wouldn’t get wet. Here are some pictures form our beach walk.

The day after thanksgiving
Saturday, December 6th, 2008Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet
Friday, December 5th, 2008A few weeks ago we saw that Bela Fleck was playing at the Tractor Tavern and that he was playing with Abigail Washburn and their new group, Sparrow Quartet. We didn’t know much about it but since we knew Bela Fleck (a amazing Banjo player) we decided last minute to get tickets and go see this. GREAT SHOW! I think this was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time, definitely in my top 5 best shows. If these guys come to town in your area definitely go see them if you are into folk/bluegrass/newgrass music.
Abigail Washburn lived in China for a period and is fluent, so she has blended Chinese lyrics with folk music. You might not think that it would work, but it does. She plays claw hammer style banjo and has an amazing voice. If you are interested in listening to some of the music head to:
